§ 01

How the name works.

borrowed appetite verb as brand anchor

Say the word gobble to almost anyone and they picture the same thing, a turkey, a kid shoveling food, a mouth working too fast to be polite.

§ 02

Name anatomy.

Editorial read

Gobble is plain English, the verb for eating fast and with appetite. It's the sound a turkey makes, yes, but the more common everyday use is about speed and hunger together. You gobble something down when it's good and you don't have time to be precious about it.

That's a lot of brand positioning packed into one short word with no construction work required. The name didn't need a suffix or a compound. The verb already did the job.

§ 03

How it sounds.

Fig. 3

That speed is the point. A word about eating quickly should not sit heavy in the mouth, and this one does not, it goes down in one motion the way the meals promise to. There's a small comic undertow to it too, since gobble is what you do to food when you are not paying attention to manners, and a brand about fast dinners can afford that joke.

Spelling holds no traps, the double B is the only place a hand might hesitate, and it resolves itself the moment you sound the word out.

§ 04

Buyer profile.

Fig. 4

Standing at the counter at the tail end of a Tuesday, twenty minutes on the clock, having already signed up for a different meal kit two years back and canceled it because the prep time lied. The wish to cook, or at least to feel like a cook, is still there, but a pile of mise en place instructions is not going to happen tonight. Gobble is the buy made after ruling out both delivery pizza and the full multi-step kit commitment.

The aim is not ambition. It is a real plate of food on the table without opening five separate packages first.

Before the name does its work

standing in the kitchen at 6pm, nothing prepped, energy gone, already doing the mental math on takeout.

After

dinner on the table in fifteen minutes from a recipe that doesn't require reading three paragraphs of instructions. The name meets them at the before state and promises the after without making them feel like they're cutting corners.

§ 05

What it refuses.

Negative space
  • R·01chef-as-educator positioning
  • R·02the aspirational home cook identity
  • R·03farm-to-table provenance language
  • R·04complexity as a quality signal
  • R·05premium lifestyle aesthetics

Every refusal is a position a competitor still occupies. The white space the name claims is built from what it declines.

§ 06

Direct competitors.
