How the name works.
Fig. 2A word that rhymes with cozy but is not quite cozy leaves a small gap in the head, and a small gap is what makes something get repeated.
Name anatomy.
Editorial readSozy looks like a softened, invented word built around the sound "cozy," with the hard "c" swapped out for an "s" that makes the whole thing feel lighter and a little more personal. Cozy is the feeling the brand is chasing. The "S" at the front pulls it away from the dictionary word just far enough to feel like a name rather than a description.
It's the kind of construction that works because the source word is obvious enough to feel warm but the spelling is different enough to be ownable.
How it sounds.
Fig. 3Say Sozy out loud and it lands soft, close to cozy, close to sleepy. That echo is doing the work. SO plus ZY, two quick syllables with no hard consonant anywhere in it, nothing that makes the jaw work.
The Z is the only unusual letter in the whole word, and it is a friendly buzz rather than a snag. Written down it looks like a nickname somebody's grandmother might use, which is on brand for loungewear. Spoken once, a person could probably guess the spelling, though the Z might get typed as an S by someone who only heard it.
That is a small tax, not a real problem.
Buyer profile.
Fig. 4Done with cheaply made loungewear that pills after three washes and wide-leg pants that lose their shape by the second wear. She's not shopping for an occasion. She's shopping for the six hours between getting home and going to bed, and she wants that time to feel like something she chose rather than something she settled for.
The Sozy customer buys one or two pieces at a time, wears them constantly, and replaces them with the same brand when they finally give out.

Every refusal is a position a competitor still occupies. The white space the name claims is built from what it declines.

Read against the shelfLoungewear is a crowded shelf, and most brands in it are fighting on fabric specs and price. Sozy sidesteps that fight.
